Martin Eisenberg

Pfc Martin Eisenberg was killed in action on 06 June 1944, serving with Company F, 2nd Battalion, 115th Infantry Regiment. On D-Day, the 2nd Battalion, 115th Infantry came ashore at Fox Green Beach around 10:25 in the morning alongside the 1st Battalion, moving in on the right flank of the landing. From there the battalion pushed across the exposed beach and began climbing the bluffs beyond it, progress made slower and more dangerous by mines scattered along the way. The battalion then made a push toward the town of St. Laurent-sur-Mer, but the attempt to take it fell short, and by day's end the men had pulled back to wooded ground about half a mile west of the town, south of St. Laurent itself. Pfc Eisenberg was killed in action that day; the report does not specify the individual circumstances.
