The Story
Pfc Edward Gurowski was killed in action on 16 June 1944, serving with Company K, 3rd Battalion, 115th Infantry Regiment. On 16 June 1944, the 3rd Battalion, 115th Infantry was in the vicinity of Couvains, having just reverted from its temporary attachment to the 116th Infantry back to the direct control of its own regiment. The battalion remained in its existing position that day, with no movement or relocation recorded. This shift in command reflected an administrative change in the days following the Normandy landings rather than any new offensive action by the battalion. Pfc Gurowski was killed in action that day; the report does not specify the individual circumstances.
