The Story
S/Sgt Henry Triplett was killed in action on 14 June 1944, serving with Company C, 1st Battalion, 175th Infantry Regiment. On 14 June 1944, 1st Battalion, 175th Infantry found itself operating as part of a task force in the vicinity of Lison. That morning, the division commander ordered the force to pull back across the Vire River and rejoin the rest of the regiment. The battalion fought its way back to the river under difficult conditions, completing the withdrawal and returning to friendly lines late that night. S/Sgt Triplett was killed in action that day; the report does not specify the individual circumstances.
