The Story

Pfc DeAngelo died of non-battle causes on 22 June 1944, serving with Company G, 2nd Battalion, 16th Infantry Regiment. On 22 June 1944, the company held its defensive position in the vicinity of La Jameria, working to strengthen the line with barbed wire. Men used the day to check and maintain their equipment and weapons, keeping the position combat-ready. Four separate patrols were sent out from the company to scout the surrounding area, providing a picture of enemy activity and terrain beyond the defensive line. Pfc DeAngelo died of non-battle causes.
