The Story

Pvt Francis Murray was killed in action on 10 June 1944, serving with Company L, 3rd Battalion, 175th Infantry Regiment. On 10 June 1944, the 175th Infantry Regiment held and strengthened its defensive positions in the vicinity of Lison, using the period from the evening of 9 June through midnight of the 10th to consolidate its lines. Regimental troops worked to firm up the ground already gained, improving positions and organizing the area against possible counterattack rather than pushing forward. This day marked a pause for reinforcement and preparation, allowing the regiment to secure what it held before resuming further offensive action. Pvt Murray was killed in action that day; the report does not specify the individual circumstances.
