The Story
Pfc Albert Randall, Jr was killed in action on 08 June 1944, serving with Company M, 3rd Battalion, 26th Infantry Regiment. On 8 June 1944, the 3rd Battalion, 26th Infantry, was positioned along both sides of the main Bayeux road as it prepared to push forward toward St Anne. By 2130 that evening, the battalion was advancing along both sides of the road, supported by tanks that engaged targets of opportunity as the column moved ahead. The specific actions of any single company within the battalion during this advance are not separately documented, but the unit as a whole was engaged in this coordinated push toward its objective. Pfc Randall was killed in action that day; the report does not specify the individual circumstances.
