The Story
Sgt Ready was killed in action on 08 June 1944, serving with HQ Btry, 32nd Field Artillery Battalion. On 8 June 1944, the 32nd Field Artillery Battalion was operating in the vicinity of Mosles, its guns reinforced by the 5th and 7th Field Artillery Battalions as the 18th Infantry pushed forward in the attack south of the town. Throughout the afternoon the battalion shifted its firing positions closer to Mosles, with Battery B moving at 1400 hours, Battery C at 1530, and Battery A at 1730, while Headquarters Battery displaced in stages behind them. By evening, Battery B of the 190th Field Artillery Battalion had joined in general support, and over the course of the day the battalion fired thirteen missions, expending 379 rounds in support of the advancing infantry. Sgt Ready was killed in action that day; the report does not specify the individual circumstances.
