Pvt Richard Haburchak was killed in action on 07 June 1944, serving with 4142nd Quartermaster Service Company. On 7 June 1944, the remaining elements of the 4142nd Quartermaster Service Company came ashore at Omaha Beach's Fox Red sector, near Colleville-sur-Mer. LCT-548, LCT-638, and LCT-637 beached and unloaded directly onto the sand through the morning and early afternoon, while personnel from LST-75 had a rougher crossing in, ferried by LCVPs; two of those landing craft were damaged and one sank, forcing some men to swim the rest of the way ashore. Despite continued air raids that day, the company completed its landing and established its first bivouac area on the beach, marking the unit's full arrival in France. Pvt Haburchak was killed in action that day; the report does not specify the individual circumstances.
