On 7 June 1944, the 3rd Battalion came ashore about 4:30 in the afternoon near St. Laurent-sur-Mer, roughly four hours behind the regiment's first two battalions. The landing was not without cost—one of L Company's landing craft was lost to mines and machine-gun fire as it approached the beach.
